Tarragon is a 5-year-old registered PRE Andalusian gelding with an exceptional brain and a very amateur-friendly temperament. He is soft, straightforward, and uncomplicated to ride, comfortably going on a loose rein or stepping into correct contact when asked.
Although trained in dressage, Tarragon is versatile and could easily transition to western disciplines, including Ranch Horse classes, Horsemanship, and Western Dressage. He has an excellent foundation with lateral work and balanced transitions, including leg yield, shoulder-fore, shoulder-in, haunches-in, half pass, extension, and collection.
Tarragon was competed at the 2025 IALHA Championships at WEC Ocala, placing 4th out of 13 horses in a large Dressage Suitability class. He is currently schooling Second Level dressage. He has a green flying change in one direction and confirmed simple changes.
He is extremely comfortable to ride, with smooth gaits that feel slow and easy in the saddle even when moving forward. He has good brakes and a reliable stop, making him suitable for timid or amateur riders. If unsure, he will quietly stop and assess rather than react.
Tarragon is excellent in show environments and enjoys going new places. He is easy to haul, stands tied at the trailer, and handles day parking and showgrounds without issue. He lives outside 24/7 but stalls easily at overnight shows.
He is kind with kids and teen riders and remains rideable and forgiving, though like any young horse, he benefits from clear, consistent aids. He stands quietly at the mounting block for mounting and dismounting and is easy to handle on the ground, in cross-ties, and when leading.
He can have time off and come back the same horse. He is food motivated, eager to learn, and consistently wins over amateur riders.
His breeder is supportive of showing and may assist the new owner with stalls or entry fees once per year at IALHA-recognized shows.
Virtual lessons and post-sale support are available to ensure a successful transition for Tarragon and his new rider.
