Well-behaved gelding for leisure riding purposes for sale.

For sale: German riding horse suitable as a leisure horse – a bay gelding, born in 2016, with a height of approximately 16.1 hh.

Baccardis Blind Date, known as Cardy, is a half-bred gelding sired by Baccardi v. Belissimo, who formerly stood at Rüscher-Konermann station. His dam is our Thoroughbred mare Wintertime (by Second Set x Winterzeit), who had a successful racing career before transitioning to breeding.

Cardy was raised in a protective environment and was gently backed at the age of five, beginning his versatile training early on. He has a very honest nature and is uncomplicated in handling. He has a dressage training background, enjoys jumping small fences, and is experienced in ground work, lunging, and liberty training. He is a calm and reliable partner, both riding alone or in groups, and is absolutely traffic-safe. 

Due to an early tongue issue, he has been nearly bitless for years, a situation we plan to maintain. 

His only health issue: In 2024, he suffered from gastric ulcers caused by a medication shortage/administration error, and at the end of 2025, he developed stomach ulcers again. These were successfully treated with the appropriate medication from abroad by March. As a result, he was not ridden dressage for over a year and a half, and now he shows some difficulty on the riding arena due to his pain memory. However, lunging and groundwork are no problem, and he is gradually returning to being ridden and exploring the terrain again. We are working on building his confidence and versatility. 

We are seeking a leisure rider who understands his needs and is willing to work with him accordingly, without ambitions for competitive sport. Cardy is a wonderful companion and has been reliably accompanying my son on trail rides and in the arena for years. Nonetheless, he will always be a gastric horse. 

He is kept in a large herd in an open stable and may experience stress in that environment. Due to upcoming professional and family changes, I can no longer provide him with the care he needs. I believe he would benefit from a smaller herd or a stable with more resources, possibly even a box at night. He still receives supplements for his stomach, which should be continued. Otherwise, he is an uncomplicated and eager feeder who loves good hay.

He is barefoot (farrier maintained) and handles outdoor terrain well with hoof boots. He will come with his entire equipment (saddle, bridle, blankets, leg protection, saddle pads, etc.).

This is not an emergency sale; Cardy was born here, and I will carefully consider where he goes. Priority is given to the well-being of the horse.
