Poco – 2019 AQHA Registered Roan Gelding Big 16H Ranch Horse Deluxe | Fancy Broke | Head Horse Prospect If you’re looking for a big, good-looking ranch gelding with size, substance, and an exceptional handle, Poco is one that deserves your attention. Standing approximately 16 hands and weighing approximately 1,400 pounds, Poco is a powerful, square-made gelding with excellent conformation and the kind of presence that turns heads wherever he goes. Poco is the definition of a ranch horse deluxe. He has been used for ranch work, gathering cattle, and is started on the head side, where he has been tracking and pushing cattle. With his size, strength, and natural ability, he shows great promise as someone’s number one head horse. At the same time, if you simply need a reliable ranch partner to check fences, doctor cattle, or cover big country, Poco is ready to go to work. Under saddle, Poco is very fancy broke and extremely enjoyable to ride. He carries a smooth rocking-chair lope and a steady, easy trot you can sit all day long. He lopes correct circles both directions and takes the correct leads with ease. He has an excellent stop, is soft in the bridle, and neck reins beautifully — lay the rein over his neck with one hand and off you go. He will side pass, counter-arc, and move off your leg, showing the kind of training and responsiveness that makes him a pleasure to ride. Outside the arena, Poco is confident and seasoned. He has been ridden everywhere from ranch work and cattle gatherings to barrel races, rodeos, and even down the highway and through town. He is not a spooky horse, handles new environments well, and will cross brush, rough terrain, and obstacles without hesitation. Poco travels exactly the speed you ask for — walk if you say walk, lope if you say lope. He is not a run-off and not a deadhead, making him enjoyable for long days in the saddle. On the ground, Poco is easy to handle and enjoyable to be around. He has a goofy, friendly gelding personality, is easy to catch wherever you find him, stands quietly tied, loads and unloads well, and is excellent for the farrier with good, hard black feet. He is also easy to bathe and stands quietly to be hosed off. Poco rides well alone or in a group, has a nice neck rein, and will open and close gates with ease. He is traffic safe, unfazed by dogs and wildlife, and stands patiently for mounting. He does well in a stall or turned out in the pasture, pastures well with other horses, and is an extremely easy keeper. Poco travels sound with no maintenance and sells 100% sound and ready to go to work. He comes with a current Coggins, and pre-purchase exams are welcome at the buyer’s expense. Poco is located in Hatfield, Arkansas. He is best suited for a confident rider that. He does best with consistent riding. Big, stout geldings with this kind of size, training, and versatility are becoming harder and harder to find. Whether you’re looking for a head horse prospect, dependable ranch partner, or a big comfortable trail horse, Poco is ready to go to work for you.
