If you are looking for a young gelding that is already broke, safe, gentle, and enjoyable to ride, take a look at MR BLACKBURN 216, better known around here as Hershey Kiss. Hershey Kiss is a gorgeous 14.1 hand, 5 year old buckskin gelding with an incredibly sweet personality and the kind of quiet, willing attitude that makes him a pleasure to have around. He is the type of horse that makes you wonder how he can be this young and already be this dependable.
Hershey Kiss is a very broke horse with a good mind and a soft, willing way of going. He is not a horse that needs his rider to constantly micromanage him or keep him busy every second. He knows his job, listens to his rider, and is happy to go along with whatever you have planned for the day. He is safe and gentle, making him the kind of horse you can get on and actually relax and enjoy your ride.
In the arena, Hershey Kiss is a pleasure to ride. He is broke to the basics and beyond, with good control and a willing attitude. He walks, trots, and lopes willingly, takes his leads, circles nicely, and is happy to work when asked. He is the kind of horse that gives his rider the feeling that they are riding a broke horse, rather than riding a project. Whether you want to spend an afternoon working in the arena, practice your horsemanship, or simply get on and enjoy a ride, Hershey Kiss is happy to do his part.
Take him outside the arena and he continues to be the same dependable horse. Hershey Kiss is a willing trail partner who is comfortable getting out and seeing the sights. He is happy to leave the barn, ride out, and go wherever you point him. He is the type of horse that allows you to enjoy the trail instead of spending your entire ride worrying about what he might find around the next corner. He is safe, sensible, and gentle, making him a horse you can confidently take along on your next trail riding adventure.
One of the things that makes Hershey Kiss so enjoyable is that he is just as good to deal with when the saddle comes off. He has good ground manners and stands quietly to be groomed, saddled, and handled. He is easy to catch, pleasant to work around, and does not make the everyday chores of horse ownership difficult. He is happy to spend time with his person and has the sweet personality that makes you want to keep him around.
Hershey Kiss is also accustomed to the things that come with being a well rounded riding horse. He tacks up nicely, stands for his rider, loads and hauls, and is comfortable leaving home to go do his job somewhere else. Whether you are loading up for a trail ride, heading to the arena, or taking him along for an outing, he is a horse that can go with you and settle into the situation.
And then there is his personality. Hershey Kiss really is as sweet as his name. He is kind, gentle, and genuinely enjoyable to be around. He has that pretty buckskin look that gets your attention from across the pasture, but once you meet him, it is his personality that makes you want to take him home. He is the type of horse that quickly becomes a favorite and the one you find yourself looking forward to riding.
At only 5 years old, Hershey Kiss has so much life ahead of him. Finding a horse this young that is already this broke, safe, gentle, and willing is a special opportunity. He has the foundation and experience to be enjoyed now, while still giving his next owner many years to continue growing with him and making him their own.
MR BLACKBURN 216 “HERSHEY KISS” is a horse we truly enjoy. He is beautiful without being all looks, broke without being complicated, and young without acting like a baby. If you want a safe and gentle gelding that you can saddle up, ride in the arena, take down the trail, haul to new places, and simply enjoy as your own, Hershey Kiss is one you need to come meet. We think you will understand very quickly why he has earned such a sweet name.
