Icelandic Gelding / 2016 / Leisure Horse

For sale is a handsome Icelandic gelding.

Description: Tittur is a friendly gelding that is simply a pleasure to ride on the arena. I ride him in a walk, trot, and canter; he shows a natural tölt gait, although I haven't specifically trained this. His walk is steady, his trot is lively and elastic, and his canter is well jumping.

Tittur is very well-matched for breeding; my trainer, who is about 5'8" (172 cm), looks very harmonious on him. I am 5'5" (165 cm).  

Tittur is well-trained and has developed muscles in the right places. The main focus during riding has been dressage and gymnastics.  

He is a horse that needs to be ridden properly; those who cannot do so will not be happy with him. He does not rear or buck—he simply stops if unsure. Riders who know how to handle him will find a willing, forward-going partner. He is not hot or overly spirited.  

In summer, Tittur spends about 6-7 hours on the pasture. Not longer, as he would otherwise gain too much weight. Overall, he is a light feeder.  

There are two points I want to be transparent about: First, he is not easy to transport. With a second horse nearby, there was no problem, but when alone in the trailer, he becomes restless and has even jumped over the front bar once.  

Second, terrain can be a challenge. He is quick-moving and sometimes environmentally aware, so he needs a calm and confident rider in such situations. His biggest "problem" is that he becomes quite excitable in the terrain when it comes to trotting or cantering. He does not buck but is difficult to regulate—something that can likely be trained.  

On walks, he is 100% manageable, well-behaved, very calm, and relaxed.

Tittur can be equipped with a suitable saddle, bridle, and other gear if needed.
