“Billy Bay Buster,” affectionately known as Drako, stands 15.2 hands and is an absolutely gorgeous, classically built gelding with the size, balance, and eye appeal everyone looks for. He has the kind of presence that turns heads, but it’s his kind disposition and versatility that truly set him apart.
Drako has filled many roles for us. He’s spent long, demanding days as a ranch horse, handling everything from working gates, dragging calves, doctoring cattle- yearlings and cows, sorting cattle to loading trucks and tackling the everyday jobs that need a dependable horse. He’s honest, willing, and always ready to go to work.
Drako is just as happy hitting the trails. He’s our go-to horse for a relaxing ride through the countryside, taking everything in stride with the same calm, steady attitude he brings to the ranch.
One of Drako’s greatest qualities is his consistency. No matter how much time he has off, he stays gentle and dependable. When friends or family come to ride, he’s always one of the first horses we pull out. He stays quiet, never gets flustered, minds his own business around other horses, and takes excellent care of his rider.
Under the saddle, Drako is soft in the bridle, responsive to your leg, and enjoyable to ride. He has an exceptionally comfortable lope and naturally carries himself with collection and balance, making him a pleasure whether you’re putting in a day’s work or simply enjoying a leisurely ride.
Around the barn, he’s just as enjoyable. Drako is easy to catch, simple to saddle, loads confidently into any trailer, stands quietly for the farrier, enjoys a bath, and has spent countless hours tied to a fence without a fuss. Very little bothers this handsome gelding, and he genuinely wants to please.
He does well turned out with other horses and is equally content being kept by himself. He’s an easy keeper.
