Roscoe
Roscoe is a 6-year-old grade blue roan gelding standing 14.3 hh. This cute, handy-sized gelding is super easy to ride with a calm, quiet demeanor both on the ground and under saddle. He truly has a been-there-done-that attitude.
Roscoe has done a little bit of everything. He was started as a rope horse, used in mounted shooting, ridden English, and started over jumps. He’s been ridden extensively on the trails through brush and rough country, and he’s even been taken into town. No matter where you take him, he stays the same steady, willing horse.
On the ground, Roscoe is a gentleman. He stands great for the farrier and picks up all four feet easily with just a touch of your hand. He’s very easy to bridle and unbridle, keeping his head low, and he ground ties so you can drop the reins and walk away. He truly is the sweetest little guy to be around.
In the arena, Roscoe is well trained and responsive. He stands quietly to mount and dismount, has a soft neck rein, and will also ride direct rein. He moves nicely off leg pressure, side-passes both directions, and has a very slow, controlled walk that can cover ground without breaking into a trot. He offers a smooth jog, an extended trot, and clean lope departures, popping right into the correct lead when asked. His lope is slow and smooth. When you say “whoa,” he’ll sit down and stop hard, and he has a nice, correct rollback.
Out on the trails, Roscoe is a pleasure to ride. He doesn’t spook at wildlife or unusual objects, crosses water and downfall with confidence, and handles steep hills with ease. He trailers well, loading and unloading quietly. We’ve ridden him around traffic in town, and he remains calm and dependable every time.
Roscoe is up to date on all vet work and Coggins. He is currently barefoot and does not require shoes. Don’t miss out on this versatile, gentle gelding—he’s truly the kind of horse everyone is looking for.
