Talk about one that’ll get you noticed.
Freckles is a 2021 AQHA palomino gelding with all the shape, color, chrome, and presence you could want. Big bald face, white stockings, splashes of white on his belly and that rich palomino color that makes him hard to miss. Fancy is in his name for a reason, and he wears it well. He is AQHA registered and could be dual registered with APHA if someone wanted to go that direction.
But don’t let all that pretty fool you. Freckles has not been sitting around being admired.
This gelding has had a job.
We have owned Freckles for a year, and he has been one of the handiest horses to have around. He has been used on a yearling operation, sorted, pulled, shipped and tended to wheat pasture cattle. He has been to brandings, drug calves, handled long days, busy pens, gates, trailers, noise and commotion. He knows what it is to be saddled before daylight, used for a purpose and asked to stay honest when there is plenty going on around him. He is not the "spooky" type looking for a reason to come apart.
Freckles has roped and doctored plenty of wheat pasture cattle. He can catch one that’s leaving the country, has plenty of run and is strong to the horn. He knows how to get there, get set up right, give you a shot, and get one stopped when it matters.
Freckles is quick and handy when you need him, then will come right back down and lope around quiet when you don’t. He is not one you have to beg to get across a pen, but he is not one you have to hold together every second either. He has that hard-to-find balance of forward, feel, and sense.
Outside, he is the same enjoyable kind. We have trail ridden him through Palo Duro Canyon, crossed water, covered country, and used him in places where a horse needs to pay attention and take care of business. He is confident outside, smooth to ride, and feels broke underneath you.
In the arena, Freckles is just flat fun.
He neck reins exceptionally well, has a good stop, and a turnaround you can keep slow and correct or ask to be quicker when you want it. He carries himself low headed, has a nice little jog, and lopes around pretty with a smooth, easy way of moving. He is the kind that makes you want to keep riding because he feels good, looks good, and has enough handle to be enjoyable.
Are you looking for one to ranch on? He’s done it.
Want one to take down the trail? He’s been there.
Need one with eye appeal and a real resume? Here he is.
Freckles is as easy to own as he is to look at. Easy to catch, groom, saddle, handle, haul, and enjoy. He is pleasant on the ground, good turned out with other horses, and excellent with his feet. Your farrier will thank you for owning him. He hauls like a dream, stands quiet in the trailer, and unloads himself. He does not just ride good. He lives good, too.
He stands 15.1 hands, has good feet, and is up to date on farrier, dental, and routine care. He is sound and sells with a recent vet exam included. All records are available upon request.
Pretty enough to turn heads.
Broke enough to enjoy.
Useful enough to earn his keep.
