Wichita is the horse that meets you at the pasture gate every morning. He is personable, friendly and in your pocket. He is accustomed to being pasture kept and no matter how large the pasture he is always easy to catch. He has been utilized primarily as a ranch and trail horse but is a great head horse prospect if you’re looking for one to head to the roping pen with. We also feel he would go great under English tack! He has an extended floating movement that would transition well to the English discipline. His gaits are relaxed and smooth. He is not a forward quick footed horse but he is not super lazy either. He is a pleasurable medium between the two. Wichita stays gentle, even with time off he has never offered to buck. He is what we refer to as “old fashioned broke”. He neck reins and rides one handed staying right in between the bridle reins. He catches his leads and lopes circles both ways, will cross over to turn around and stop very well when asked, but is not what we would call fancy or catty. He is honest with simple, user friendly buttons. Wichita has a lot of experience outside of the arena and is not easily spooked. He has seen all kinds of wildlife, terrain and water crossings while being used to make large circles during gathering. We have roped cattle on the outside with him both to doctor and to load on the trailer. He has run when you ask for it and will track in right where your hand points him. He pulls strong and handles a rope well. He has been in the head box a couple times and it will not take long to have him going good as a head horse. Wichita is an easy keeper. He is currently shod, but can go barefoot as well if you wish. Gets along in a herd or by himself. He has no maintenance needs or special care requirements. He has never had any major injuries or sickness and is completely clean legged and sound. His ground manners are wonderful. He ties and trailers quietly and is a gentleman to saddle and bridle. Wichita has his whole life and career ahead of him. He will be a lifelong partner.
