“Lucy” – 14.2H, 13 year old grade sorrel quarter horse mare… Lucy is literally build like a brickhouse!!! They don’t get much stouter made then this mare – and she’s shapely made and absolutely striking with all four stocking legs and a blaze face! Lucy has been primarily pleasure and trail ridden the past 5 years with a senior rider. She is extremely laid back, gentle, and as uncomplicated to ride as they come – she is one you have to peddle a little at a trot and lope, and has way more “whoa” than she has go. This is the type of horse we get tons of calls about to just be a family pet, or turned out at a second home to enjoy on the occasional weekend. Lucy knows her job and is happy to go for a ride once a year or once a week, she is easy and pleasant to be around. She stands statue still extremely patiently for mount and dismount, even if you need a little extra time and are a little sloppy and uncoordinated getting on, Lucy contently stands there waiting for you to get settled before taking a step off. This mare is a breath of fresh air and very relaxing and easy to be around. Rides easily out alone and has been on many rides around the place, trail rides, or rides to town alone – she enjoys the time and is happy to go where-ever you want to go. Has a nice easy walk, trot, and lope on a loose rein, catches both of her leads easily and has a good quick stop on whoa. This would be a fun entry level local show horse, 4H horse, or a good mount to get your feet wet at the local stock horse or ranch horse shows. Super easy keeper – looks like this coming straight out of living outside with the cows! She is also happy inside, loves the attention and loves being spoiled and kept in the barn. Happy turned out with others, lives with a small group of mixed horses now. Always the first up to you sticking her head in the feed bucket or the halter – very sweet and overly friendly. Good ground manners, easy to bridle, saddle, groom, stands dead quiet and patiently for mount and dismount, bathe, load in the wash racks, hops right on the trailer, and stands patiently. Lucy was just shod this past week and is wearing front shoes, her teeth were also done by an equine dentist last month, she has had her ears treated for ticks, and she was also power packed wormed. She is also good to shoe all around, and has great feet and goes very well barefoot – if her new owner prefers her to be fully show, or to be barefoot – we can have either done prior to her heading to her new home. She will arrive at her new home up-to-date and ready to go to work!
