CADILLAC CHROME — “CADILLAC” Cadillac is the horse you hand the reins to when you want someone to have a GOOD experience. He is 12 years old, stands 15.1 hands, and is a beautiful sorrel with a long flaxen mane and tail and three white socks. He has that classy, traditional gelding look that never goes out of style, and Cadillac Chrome couldn’t be a more fitting name for him. But this horse’s best quality is something you can’t see in a picture. He is genuinely, exceptionally gentle. Put the kid on him. Put the beginner on him. Put Mom on him after she hasn’t ridden since the kids were little. Put Dad on him when he just wants to tag along. Or, if you know how to ride, get on him yourself and enjoy having a horse that is actually broke. Cadillac doesn’t require a confident rider to make him confident. That is what we appreciate so much about him. He has enough age, miles, and experience that everything doesn’t have to be a lesson. He has already spent years learning how to be a horse you can depend on. He has been used on the ranch, worked cattle, gathered, sorted, branded, checked fences, opened gates, and carried a rider through long days horseback. And he is broke all the way through. Cadillac neck reins, takes his leads, lopes around comfortably, stops, backs, and turns around. You don’t have to pick at him every stride or work to keep him together. He knows what the reins and your legs mean, and he is happy to do his job. Then take him outside and he may be even better. Cadillac has traveled plenty of country. Water, bridges, rocks, logs, brush, hills, narrow trails and rough footing are all part of the deal for him. He’ll leave the barn alone, ride with company, lead the group, bring up the back, or cruise along right in the middle. Traffic, bicycles, dogs, equipment and activity don’t turn your relaxing ride into a training session. We have also had him through flags, tarps, balls, noodles, tires, bridges and dragging obstacles. He approaches things with the same quiet attitude he brings to everything else. Cadillac is good to catch, saddle, tie, haul, bathe, clip and shoe. He is comfortable living in a stall or turned out and doesn’t require a complicated program to be enjoyable. The person we really want to notice Cadillac is the person who has been waiting for the RIGHT horse to start riding again. Maybe you used to ride all the time, but life happened and ten or fifteen years slipped by. Now you want back in the saddle, but you are smart enough to know you don’t need a young, complicated horse underneath you. Or maybe you’re buying for your child and gentle means more to you than anything written on a pedigree. Maybe you’re brand new to horses. Or maybe you’ve ridden your entire life and you’re simply at the point where you don’t feel like proving anything anymore—you want to saddle your horse and enjoy your day.
