Under Eric van der Vleuten, the Carthago daughter VDL Groep Cannelina competed at the highest level and finished second, among other results, in the 1.50m classes at Jumping Amsterdam and Eindhoven. El Rey Dorado PM Z is a grandson of Cannelina and therefore represents Holsteiner line 4025. This direct line also produced the successful 1.50m-level showjumper Grande Dame du Huit, with whom Renée de Weert has often placed. Sire Eldorado van de Zeshoek continues to prove himself a top progenitor, with offspring such as Killer Queen VDM, Grandorado TN, Highway TN and Elektric Blue P. Even more performance genes are added to this pedigree by the well-producing Olympic stallion Verdi.
