A woman had an accident in the forest when she fell off her horse. She made an emergency call. Due to the uneven terrain, she had to be rescued by a helicopter and flown to the nearest hospital.
In Hesse (Germany) near Wiesbaden, a rider and horse had an accident. She fell in the forest and immediately alerted the fire brigade with her mobile phone. Thanks to the mobile phone tracking system “Advanced Mobile Location”, the woman could be located directly. The rescuers were sent to her. They were well prepared. They arrived with an ambulance, an emergency ambulance and an all-terrain vehicle for transporting the patient.
After a short time, the woman was found, but one thing was clear: the woman could not be driven by car through the uneven forest terrain. Due to her injuries, transport by car would have been too dangerous. For this reason, a helicopter of the police aviation squadron was requested.
Rescue by helicopter
While the helicopter was approaching, the patient was packed into a special air rescue bag. Together with the fire brigade, the high-altitude rescuers pulled the woman up with the winch. She was flown to the nearest hospital, which was not far away.
Her horse ran away after the fall, but could be safely recaptured. Thanks to “Advanced Mobile Location”, the rescuers were on the scene in time. This is a location service for mobile phones where the location services and WiFi connection are automatically activated as soon as the user dials 112. This system is integrated in all current mobile phones. The service greatly facilitates the localisation of emergency scenes.
