Peabody the miniature horse was so tiny that he could be kept indoors. His size and friendship with three French bulldogs made him an internet hit.

Peabody was a miniature horse. He was so small that his mother didn’t raise him. He was just too small to nurse. At six weeks old, he weighed just 19 pounds and was 16 ½ inches tall. Unfortunately, that size also brought other health problems. He couldn’t walk properly, his jaw wasn’t straight and he was believed to be deaf and blind.

The vet advised the owners to have the pony put down because of the health complications. The owners didn’t know what to do with the animal either. Then Faith Smith came along. She decided to drive across the country in a rented van to pick up the tiny animal.

She felt that Peabody deserved a chance at life. She took Peabody in. Because of his small size, Peabody was kept on the property and in Faith’s house. She justified it as follows:
“Horses are never indoor animals, but Peabody is so small that he could never live outside unless he gets bigger, and we’re not sure he will.” ” At the moment he lives indoors with the dogs.

Not alone

Peabody shared the home with Faith’s three French bulldogs. He was very nervous at first, but then the bulldogs and he started to become friends. But not only that. His jaw also started to align and for walking he was given special shoes to help him walk.

Faith started sharing Peabody’s story on social media. Peabody became an internet hit. He got millions of views and people could hardly get enough of him. His fans called him “Lil Pea” and he even got his own merchandise line. His videos have received over 360 million views and he even made a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Peabody quickly became a celebrity, doing everything from playing with French bulldogs to napping on a king-sized bed.

Too soon a farewell

Unfortunately, Peabody’s health problems took over. Like many miniature dwarf horses, Peabody was constantly facing many health problems. Although he was full of life and running all over Faith’s house, Peabody’s health sadly deteriorated in September.
At just four months old, he died of liver failure. His caring owners and vets did everything they could for him, but sadly there was nothing that could be done to save him.

Despite his short life, Peabody made a huge impact and brought joy to millions of people around the world.
