For the Ukrainians everything changed in a moment. From one day to the next, their homeland was declared a war zone. The Ukrainian Equestrian Federation Charity Foundation strives to support horses and horse people in Ukraine in these difficult times and is grateful for any help.
The Ukrainian Equestrian Federation Charity Foundation, based in Belgium, was launched within a very short time after the outbreak of war in Ukraine. In cooperation with the FEI and national equestrian federations, it aims to take care of horses and their people in danger in the war zones. According to the organisation’s website, the aim is to support ukrainian horse owners, riding schools, equestrian athletes, riding clubs, riding stables and all those involved in the equestrian profession.
Counselling and assistance through the listing of emergency shelters, the organisation of horse transports and the networking between helpers and those in need of help are the main concerns. In addition, the welfare of the horses must be monitored and donations in kind from all over Europe should reach their destinations in Ukraine – the Foundation also takes care of this.
Those who want to help can, for example, provide transport from the Ukrainian border, accommodation for two- and four-legged refugees, food, medical products, blankets and other donations in kind as well as money. Jobs for equine professionals are also needed!
You can also also help online: Regional coordinators for donations and volunteers are needed, as well as help with the Foundation’s social media channels and translation work.
