On Friday evening, a horse jumped over a fence. It landed in a ditch, however, it got stuck there and could not get out on its own.

In the district of Gifhorn (Germany) a horse jumped over the fence of a pasture. Behind it it landed in a ditch. The horse could not save itself without help. But even with numerous diligent helpers, the help was in vain. Over 30 emergency personnel on the scene tried to get the animal out of the ditch. “After we arrived, we laid several hoses around the animal and were thus able to lift it out of the ditch onto the field path promptly with a lot of manpower,” said Reinhardt, local fire chief and head of operations.

Once the emergency services had managed to free the horse from the ditch, they tried to get the animal back on its feet. The fire brigade supported the operation with a special harness for animals. At the same time, a veterinarian took care of the horse. But all efforts were in vain, as the four-legged friend was far too weak. The vet finally had to put the animal down.
