In a league of his own, Saks Fifth Avenue is a top shelf gelding that packs precision, strength, and style into one feather footed package.
Standing at 16 hands, this 2021 gypsy cross gelding is unlike any horse — let alone any draft cross I’ve come across. Through the process of consigning this horse, it's been difficult to articulate how deeply special this gentleman is, but my hope is his presence will be well represented through his pictures and video... They don’t make many like this.
The initial feeling Saks gives when you walk into the barn to meet him is valiance.
He has a calm, kind, knowing nature about him, and the deep look in his eye says so much without mustering a whisper.
From his sturdy foot and bone to his shoulder length mane and billowing tail; structurally, you are looking at an individual dripping in both style & substance. What stands out about his appearance is not only his size and chrome, but his narrow shoulders and balanced hip, show very evidently that this is not your average draft horse, but an animal built to do it all.
Saks travels exceptionally well with an unrestricted floaty movement, a careful, steady cadence, and a reiner style handle. He is liberated and soft through his neck and body- easily able to side pass up to a gate, or lope off from a walk. This horse also has a sliding stop, a nice spin, and a comfortable slow jog or ground traveling extended trot.
He’s been ridden both English and western, on contact or on a draped rein, and is the type of horse that would thrive in versatility, western dressage, or as a very high end pickup or grand entry horse. Saks is the one you take to town.
He rides just as consistent outside, as he does in the arena— and the more time you spend with him, the more this gelding shows you how eager he is to do the right thing and be your trusted partner.
Saks is kind and delicate with the little ones— but I would consider him a performance type horse that would thrive as a tool for a job or a task with purpose. He is not hot or overly feely, but he is not an old burnt out plug. He has athleticism, try, and most of all HEART!
This horse has been hauled extensively, been used as a turn back horse in the cutting pen, a weekend trail warrior, and is no stranger to traffic, cattle, or chaos! He stands tied, is easy to shoe (even with his massive feet), gets along well alone or with others, and does not miss a meal! He is SOUND, clean legged, easy to catch (he catches you half the time), stands for mounting (even when 5’3 blondes attempt to climb aboard from the ground), and has truly been such a fun one to have around.
Feel free to come see him in person, or reach out with any and all questions at 972-310-0002
