Meet Huckleberry, he is a Friesian/Paint/Appaloosa cross gelding standing at 15.2 hands tall and very stoutly built. Huckleberry is an easy-going, calm gelding that’s pretty easy to get along with. He is more WHOA than go. And he’s a blast out on the trails. He’ll go anywhere you ask him to. He’ll tackle steep banks with ease. Crosses any water, such as creeks, mud puddles, rivers, ponds, etc. He also crosses bridges, logs, and doesn’t care about muck. He stands great for tacking and mounting. He is friendly and easy to catch. He gets along well with a herd of mares or other geldings; it doesn’t matter. He is low man on the pecking order. He’s very friendly, though, and tries to make new friends with anyone he can. He loads right in the trailer and backs right out, so he’s very easy to haul. He rides away from home alone and will separate on the trail. He is NOT barn or buddy sour. He rides fine in a group, whether at the front, back, or middle, it doesn’t matter. He’s very easy to get along with, NO fuss or muss or drama with this guy. He has excellent ground manners. He’s an easy keeper. He has the best of all 3 of his breeds. He has the attitude of a laid-back paint horse; the beautiful markings of the Appaloosa; and from the Friesian, the stoutness along with a good, long, wavy mane and tail. He has a willing-to-please attitude, and he learns quickly. He does have a puppy dog attitude and tries to please you. Very sweet, lots of personality, and if you are looking for just a calm, easy ride, that can be your next forever horse, it’s Huckleberry. He does know how to move off the leg for the shoulders and hindquarters. And will pick up both leads for a canter. He has a very smooth, easy-to-sit-to slow lope. And he has a shuffle jog trot that’s smooth enough to sit to as well—great for baths, hosing down, and fly spray. He’s the type of horse that you would call a husband or boyfriend horse. Or, of course, maybe for the guys that ride a wife or girlfriend’s horse. You can put someone who knows a little about riding on him and have them tag along behind the group, and he’ll take care of them. And his gaits are smooth enough for anyone to sit to. He does NOT spook easily. He is used to wildlife out on the trails. And he is very good with traffic. I’ve ridden him away from home alone down a major state highway with lots of traffic going by, including motorcycles and semis, and he never blinks an eye at any of it. So very traffic safe. He has that laid-back attitude that paints are known for. So, I would say if you can’t ride Huckleberry, you should consider a different sport other than horseback riding. He’s up to date on vaccines, wormings, Coggins, vet check, and farrier. Just call if you have questions or want to meet him. And if you do buy him, know you’ll have to put up with endless comments of how handsome he is. He is a real eye catcher.
