Duke is a 6 year old blue roan draft cross gelding that I have had in my consignment program the last few months. Duke rides phenomenally, has smooth gaits, and is very willing. He has a loving personality that is to die for. He likes people, and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He is easy to bathe, flyspray, brush, saddle, bridle, and is just plain nice to be around. He also stands nicely for the farrier and vet, and is up to date on all vet and farrier work. Duke is barefoot, and has wonderful feet and legs. He has no blemishes or scars. Duke has no health issues or any special feed requirements of any kind. He’s an easy keeper, and is fine with any living arrangement (stalled, pasture living, or run in and out situations.)
He has been exposed to many things, and is also started in harness. You can tie him anywhere and he will cause no trouble. Duke gets along with other horses well. He loads in the trailer easily, ties in the trailer, backs out or will turn around and walk out nicely. He has been hauled in slant load trailers and in stock trailers. I have never had him refuse to load, nor had any funny business in the trailer.
I haul Duke to the arena and ride a few Duke a few days per week and he always acts like a gentleman. I trust people of all skill levels to lead and handle Duke. In a controlled environment with supervision I would be comfortable with beginners riding him also, he would be absolutely phenomenal for a lesson program; western or English. Duke has had been hopped over a few small jumps also!
Sidepassing to the mounting block is another one of Duke’s handy skills! Another fun trick that he knows is lying down. He will lie down for you to mount and dismount, and will also sit up on command! He is truly a special horse that would be very hard to duplicate. Dukes current owner expected him to be her forever horse. Life has thrown her a curveball, and she is now having some serious health issues. She is battling a bad cancer fight, and regrettably has to offer Duke for sale to his new lucky owner. It breaks her heart to have to sell him but she has no choice. If her health wouldn’t be failing her, this horse would never be offered for sale.
