John Wayne or JW for short is a big beautiful coming 5 year old blue roan Belgian draft cross that we’ve raised up from a weanling. He is a very nice gelding that stands a solid 16 hh. This beautiful boy knows what a days work is all about and looks good doing any job asked of him. He’s that all around type, goes western or English. JW is soft and supple, will flex both ways, lunge on a loose line, as well as move his front and hind quarters with ease. JW lopes nice collected circles on the correct leads on a loose rein. For being a draft cross JW carries his head low and below level. He has a great stop, neck reins and is starting to spin. JW has kind eyes and wants to be your friend. He will drop is head almost on the ground to be haltered and bridled. He stands for the farrier, hauls and ties good. Not only will JW come to a mounting block for easy mounting and dis mounting but he will lay down from the ground or on top on cue. He also knows how to sit. JW has had the pack saddle on him and been on some light rides with them. He handled it great and never has skipped a beat. JW has moved cows and we have roped and snubbed up to a few on him as well. He handled it good and with more practice would make a heck of a ranch horse that could hold anything. We have also been roping and tracking the dummy on him out of the box and he is taking to it. JW will go through obstacle courses, will go over tarps, teeter todder bridge and has been around traffic. JW will cross water, side pass to open and close gates and knows where to place his feet outside. Although most of his training has been focused on ranching JW has recently started dabbling in the English world too. From fox hunting to jumping and anything in between. He would make an excellent low level eventer, hunter or equitation prospect. One that will finally give you those “relaxed” dressage scores to boast! He is athletic, very well balanced, has beautiful confirmation, and is just natural at anything you ask him to do. It doesn’t matter if you’re packing him up in the mountains, riding in the arena, or doing ranch work, JW is always getting noticed with his rich blue roan color and confirmation. We have owned and trained 4 half brothers to him and they have to have been good minded geldings and JW is no different. He loads and backs out, will load in a 2 horse trailer, good to shoe, and haul. He seeks with a current PPE taken December 4th 2025.
