Vino is a classic draft cross, combining the strength and substance of a draft breed with the athleticism, responsiveness, and versatility of a lighter riding horse. Vino is 4 years old and stands at 15.1 hands. He has good bone, strong feet, and a naturally balanced frame.
He transitions seamlessly between Western or English tack, as well as pulling a carriage, showcasing equal ability in all three. Vino jumps with ease and has started his lead changes. His training is deep and correct across multiple disciplines, and he listens to your seat and body as much as your hands. He can be ridden bridleless and bareback, moves off the leg with softness, and offers a smooth, collected ride whether you’re schooling in the arena, on the cross country course or hacking across open fields. In Western tack, he’s responsive and collected, neck reins with a solid stop, backs easily, and does all the obstacles willingly. He’s carried flags, crossed bridges, and handled a bullwhip with no issue. In English tack, he carries himself in a frame, performs flatwork beautifully, and enjoys both ringwork and hacking out. While driving, he’s confident and dependable, having pulled a carriage safely down the road with traffic.
Vino has been extensively trail ridden across state parks, national forests, and public lands in multiple states. He confidently navigates water crossings, steep hills, narrow bridges, fallen logs, and encounters with bikes and hikers. He’s also been ridden along the sandy beaches of Florida, splashing through waves with calm curiosity. He’s unbothered by wildlife including deer, birds, and cattle, and is comfortable around dogs, farm equipment, ATVs, and traffic. Whether riding in a group or heading out solo, he leads, follows, or goes out alone without hesitation.
While not a full-time ranch horse, Vino has worked around Texas Longhorn cattle, been ridden through pastures and pens, and opened gates. He’s proven to be handy, calm, and adaptable in ranch-like environments.
In the arena, Vino is soft, supple, and completely tuned in to his rider. He rides off seat and leg, side-passes, leg-yields, and executes turns on the haunches with ease. He picks up both leads, transitions smoothly, and offers adjustable gaits—from an extended trot to a relaxed, slow jog on a loose rein. His canter/lope is balanced and comfortable, and his “whoa” is reliable and prompt. He rides equally well collected or on the buckle, and doesn’t require a perfect ride to stay honest and willing. He has the perfect “in between” rhythm.
Vino has excellent manners! He stands quietly for grooming, bathing, saddling, mounting, farrier. He ties, loads, hauls, and travels well. He is happy living in a stall or turned out.
