The horse breed called Paint Horse is represented by the 'American Paint Horse Association'(APHA) in Texas. However, it is basically not an autonomous breed, but rather spotted Quarter Horses. The reason for this is that the Paint Horse has the same pedigree and origin as the American Quarter ... More about the horse breed American Paint Horse

Meet a truly exceptional trail partner — a seasoned, eye-catching paint gelding with the kind of presence and personality that is nearly impossible to find. Standing 15.1HH with two striking blue eyes, a flowing mane and tail, and a kind, soulful expression, “Mick Dreamy” is the horse that turns heads everywhere he goes. This 2011 paint gelding combines beauty, experience, intelligence, and heart into one unforgettable package.

Mickey is an extensively seasoned trail horse with countless miles under his belt across 4+ different states. He is exceptionally sure-footed, confident out alone, and enjoyable in a group setting. Whether navigating steep embankments, creek crossings, bridges, culverts, ponds, gullies, or rough terrain, he handles every obstacle with confidence and care. He is a true “point and shoot” type on the trails who thrives with correct horsemanship, a loose rein, and attuned communication. While he is calm, dependable, and level-headed, he is not dull or lifeless — he has plenty of ability and athleticism when asked, paired with a sensitive and responsive nature that appreciates a soft-handed, thoughtful rider.

Mick Dreamy is highly intelligent and incredibly in tune with his person. He genuinely wants to please and enjoys partnership. He has been exposed to virtually everything imaginable including gunfire, tarps, traffic, barking dogs, umbrellas, flags, cattle, loud commotion, East Texas wildlife, and busy environments. Guns have even been fired off of him and he remained relaxed and mannerly throughout. He willingly steps over logs and natural trail obstacles with confidence and curiosity, always approaching new situations with a level head and willing attitude. Mickey loves the water and will confidently cruise through any water crossing found out on the trail.

Originally started with a western dressage foundation, Mickey is exceptionally soft in the bridle and responsive to subtle aids. He rides best in a hackamore, loping hack, or halter setup and strongly prefers a light, harmonious connection over heavy-handed riding. With an attuned rider, he will comfortably frame up and work into contact when asked, but truly shines when allowed to travel on a draped, relaxed rein. He is capable of moving off leg pressure, working gates, side passing, haunches-in, counter bending, yielding shoulders and hips, and rating beautifully off the rider’s seat and body language. He is the type of horse that rewards feel, timing, and finesse. His canter is lovely, so comfortable and rhythmic – definitely a gait you will smile and sit to!

On the ground, Mickey is an absolute gentleman. He ties, bathes, loads, and stands quietly for the farrier and veterinarian. He hauls beautifully to new locations and genuinely enjoys new adventures and trail experiences. He is tidy in a stall with no stall vices, easy to keep, and gets along well with other horses in turnout. He is affectionate by nature and genuinely enjoys human interaction — always the first to meet you at the gate ready for attention, grooming, cookies, or belly scratches. He is grade, with unknown breeding, though his quality, athleticism, and presence certainly speak for themselves. It is not everyday you find this much chrome paired with this kind of mind and experience. He does have a few old cosmetic scars on his left hip and hind leg that are purely cosmetic and have never affected his soundness or usability. I have personally known this horse for the last 7.5 years, and would assume these marks likely occurred much earlier in life.

Mickey is best suited for someone seeking a seasoned, trustworthy trail companion who values softness, communication, and connection over force. He thrives with a rider who understands that “less is more” and appreciates a horse with sensitivity, intelligence, and emotional awareness. He is not a robotic push-button horse — he is a deeply thoughtful, patient, and responsive partner who bonds closely with his rider. Once trust is established, he will go to great lengths to take care of and please his person.

Recent PPE and full radiographs from this year are available on file. He sells 100% sound. Mickey does require sun protection during the summer months due to a small tumor located on his pink lower eyelid. Our veterinarian has been actively treating this area with cryotherapy, and it has responded extremely well with significant reduction in size. This is fully disclosed and documented in his PPE records, which are available for review.

Mickey also comes with a well-documented history. We originally sold him six years ago to California, where he became a beloved and dependable trail mount for an older woman who developed a wonderful partnership with him over the years. Together they enjoyed countless trail rides and arena outings without issue. In late 2025, due solely to lifestyle changes and a desire for a smaller mount, he returned to Texas. He was then sold in January 2026 to a warmblood jumper facility in Florida to serve as a novice trail horse. Shortly after arriving, we were notified of behavior entirely inconsistent with the horse we had known for years. After reviewing video footage provided by the buyer involving extremely forceful and inappropriate handling during mounting, we immediately stepped in, purchased him back without hesitation, and promptly brought him home to Texas. He returned to us anxious and distrustful during mounting, clearly affected by the negative experience. Over the following 60 days, we carefully rebuilt his confidence and trust through patient, correct horsemanship. Since then, he has returned to being the kind, willing, reliable horse he has always been throughout his long trail career.

Current videos from May 2026, along with older footage throughout the years, are available to fully showcase the consistency, character, and quality of this special gelding.

Horses like Dreamy are incredibly hard to come by — the kind that combines real trail experience, striking beauty, intelligence, and genuine heart all in one package. He is the type of partner that leaves a lasting impression everywhere he goes and forms a meaningful connection with his person. If you are searching for a seasoned, trustworthy trail horse with personality, sensitivity, and soul, Mick Dreamy is ready for his next great adventure. Serious inquiries are welcomed — we would love to help match this special gelding with the right home.
