A Tik-Tok star was reportedly turned away and taunted by an employee at a horse ranch. She was reportedly as too heavy for the horses.
Influencer Remi Bader (26) is a plus-size model and has more than 2 million followers. In a video on the platform Tik Tok, she complains about the Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk (USA). Because of her weight of 240 pounds (approx. 109kg), she was not allowed to ride the horses. At first she shows no understanding and does not see where the problem is. After all, she used to ride in the past.
Later she explains in her Instagram Story that she would never harm a small business. She was just shocked by the way an employee spoke to her. It reportedly wasn’t because she was denied riding. She also understood that there were certain requirements regarding weight and assured, “I would never want to hurt the horses. But it was the way I was approached and laughed at by the owner and overall treated,” she wrote.
Bade suffers from binge-eating disorder as she explained in a Tik Tok video. People with binge-eating disorder suffer from recurring bouts of excessive eating. They eat large amounts of food within a short period of time and have the feeling of losing control over their eating behaviour.
Deep Hollow Ranch has not yet responded to this incident either. However, on their website there is a notice “How much weight can a horse carry? (weight limit when riding)”. It states that “a rider should not weigh more than 15 percent of the horse’s weight”.
However, another video on Bade’s Tik Tok page shows a man saying that if you are not fat you can ride on the deep hollow ranch. Bade and a thousand others are shocked by the video. Later the man apologised and says that the Hollow Ranch did not know about the video and it was his fault.
