In the Ostalbkreis district (Germany), a horse panicked so badly, possibly due to fireworks, that it suffered life-threatening injuries. Due to its injuries, the animal had to be euthanised on the spot. The police found the horse lying on the road. According to information, the horse had first broken through an electric fence and then jumped over another one.
Afterwards, it galloped down the road for about 200 metres. Finally, the horse stumbled and slid along the roadway for about 20m. After the fall, the horse had injured itself so badly that it could not have been saved. According to the police, an authorised fireworks display was taking place nearby. It is possible that the firecrackers were responsible for the horse’s panic.
