Tori Colvin’s Saturday night at the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals took a dramatic turn when she fell from her first horse, Southern Night, during the warm-up. Injured and forced to withdraw from the handy round with that mount, many assumed her night was over. But Colvin regrouped, saddled up her second ride—Dicoblue PS—and chose to press on, pain and all.
Colvin and Dicoblue PS Lead the Field With Poise and Precision
Dicoblue PS, an 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding with jumper roots, had already helped Colvin secure the top spot after the classic round. The handy round challenged riders with a tight, creative course—including a bounce and the iconic “Churchill Downs pen.” Staying composed, Colvin delivered a seamless round that earned the evening’s highest score: 309. Combined with her earlier score, she finished with a commanding total of 608—11 points ahead of the runner-up.

This win marks Colvin’s fourth Derby Finals title—each on a different horse—a feat unmatched in the event’s history. She now shares the record for most wins with Hunt Tosh but stands alone in her versatility.
