15-Year Ban After Abuse Investigation
On August 6, 2025, the FEI Tribunal imposed a 15-year suspension on Cesar Parra, citing “serious abuse of horses” across multiple incidents. The decision followed a lengthy investigation into Parra’s training practices, with video evidence and witness statements pointing to repeated mistreatment of horses, particularly during sale preparations. In addition to the ban, Parra was fined 17,500 Swiss francs (around $18,600) and ordered to pay 11,500 Swiss francs (about $12,400) in legal fees.
Appeal Filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport
On September 2, 2025, an FEI spokesperson confirmed that Parra has appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). His legal team aims to overturn or reduce the suspension, arguing that the evidence was misinterpreted and lacks full context. Parra did not attend the original hearing, and he has consistently denied engaging in systemic abuse. A final decision from CAS is expected in the coming months.
