He is %50 Friesian, has some KWPN, Saddlebred, and DHH lines. This boy has had a great start so far—he has some light rides under his belt, including WTC in the ring and going out on the trail. Because of his age, we have been keeping it very easy- and taking it slow with him. He is basically a clean slate to make your own under saddle—with the hardest part already done! He has also been lightly started in driving and doing well. Atticus has an incredible personality and brain. This boy loves people and has the cutest demeanor. He’s very sane, sound, and sensible. Atticus has had a lot of desensitization work done. He is used to the flapping tarp, flags, barking dogs running all around his legs, traffic, equipment, bikes, hikers, and people/kids being all over him in the barn. Every new thing we throw at him, he takes with confidence and grace, and he continues to impress us every time we pull him out. If anything ever does get to the point where it unsettles him, he is not one to ever have a big reaction or do something dangerous. If you want a sound mind in a young horse, don’t pass him up. In the ring, Atticus will walk, trot, and canter both directions, and he has nice movement that will only continue to improve and progress with training. He is a lovely prospect for dressage with his flashy movement and athletic build. He is more of a push ride at this point (once he learns more of a work ethic, that is subject to change), and he has great brakes. He will stand all day if you want him to. He has big movement at the trot and canter, and we have not yet asked him to start collecting. We can only imagine how lovely he will be in the future when he learns how to handle himself more! He is very eager to learn and is the type of horse that can retain new information well. He has lunged and ridden over poles, and he is aware of his feet with a careful step. He is green, however quiet and easy enough for an amateur working with a trainer that could continue his education. On the trail, we have taken Atticus out with other horses—and he was phenomenal! He will walk, trot, and canter out in the open fields, slowly wind through the tight trails with low branches in the woods, and go right into the lake for a dip! He has come across bikers, hikers with dogs, and never bats an eye. We love taking the young ones out with an older horse to show them the ropes and instill confidence—but he is naturally confident and careful all on his own! He will lead or follow the group and has not taken a single wrong step yet. He is a fun, relaxing ride to take out (the type you can crack a beer on) and NOT the type of young horse that is unpredictable or makes you feel uneasy. He is sturdy and sure-footed, gets along with all the other horses on the trail, and you can even pony off of him or pony him off another. He would make someone a fantastic foxhunter, one to take on paper chases, or just a safe, fun trail horse to enjoy. In the barn, Atticus has zero vices. He is so friendly and truly a people person! He stands on the crossties to groom, tack up, and work around. He will not budge until he is asked. He loves when someone spends time grooming him and loving on him, and he loves cookies and forehead scratches. He’s safe enough for kids to sit on and groom all over. He picks up his feet extremely well and is always a gentleman for the farrier and vet. He is so lovable in every way—we would keep him ourselves if we didn’t already have a collection of personal horses! He is a superstar of a horse and is only being offered to the best of homes. Atticus is a wonderful gelding with truly no vices, and someone will definitely be glad they took a chance on this one. Atticus is UTD on shots, farrier, Coggins, deworming, and dentist.
