Gus is a 2020 blue roan half Brabant half quarter gelding. He is a gentle giant standing at 15.3 hands and 1,325 pounds. He loves being the center of attention. We bought Gus from a Canadian ranch when he was 6 months old. He has the perfect size and confirmation for any type of riding. We get compliments every time we take him out.
We’ve ridden him everywhere. My wife rode him when she was pregnant. We’ve taken him to Eminence, Missouri where he’s crossed the river since he was 2. He does fine on a tie line while camping. He goes wherever you point him, including up/down hills and over logs. He can go all day without slowing down. Gus doesn’t mind to be in the front or the back of the pack when riding. He swims and pushes cows. He’s used to being around equipment and machinery, and he’s been ponied by everything from ATVs to tractors. Also, he has no problem riding by traffic.
Gus is a smooth ride. He’ll go as slow or as fast as you want, and he can stop on a dime. He side passes and is one hand broke. He responds to leg and butt pressure. We ride him on the farm to open/close gates. He walks/trots/lopes both ways with ease.
Gus learns quickly. With a hand motion he has learned how to position himself near any obstacle so a rider can mount easily. Check out the video to see he doesn’t even require a horse trailer.
He’s been the best boy, we just don’t ride enough to do him justice. He needs a home that will put him to good use. He’s never taken a lame step since we’ve had him. He’s an easy keeper, leads/loads/stands while tied, easy to shoe, stalls well, handles turn outs well, and is easy to catch. We’ve had foals and mamas turned out with him. He’s a big puppy dog, not a mean bone in his body. He has no bad habits.
Gus is 100% sound. He can be rode barefoot or with shoes, he’s not tender footed. Currently has new front shoes. Coggins and health papers are current. He has had his teeth floated this year. Purchase exam is available at buyer’s expense. Please call Will for any additional information or questions about Gus :) we can’t wait to connect him with his forever home! 270-977-6348.
