"Beau is a sweet, gentle, red roan gelding standing at 15.1
hands. He’s a 2009 model, Doc Bar and Peppy bred with a
strong frame and nice hip making him suitable for any size
rider. Beau is sound and hasn’t taken a single lame step. He
is happy barefoot, and on rocky trails we ride him with front
hoof boots.
Beau rides out on the trails and is happy to both lead and
follow. We haven’t taken him out alone, but he probably would
do fine. He’s confident with all the terrain we’ve thrown at him,
including bridges and water and even bicycles/e-bikes. Beau
rides in a snaffle, curb, or even bitless, and does prefer a rider
educated enough to not hang on his face constantly as he
does give quite nicely to the bridle. He stands to be tacked,
will pick you up from the mounting block, and stand quietly
while you get on and situated. Beau can ride out perfectly
quiet. A confident, quiet rider is best suited. In the ring Beau
walks and trots on a loose rein, and while he can be quick he
isn’t a runaway. He’ll also happily settle into the bit and give
you a smooth, easy jog. Beau’s lope could use more work- he
tends to get short strided and choppy. When he takes a
breath and remembers that he does in fact know how to
canter, everything smooths out to a nice even lope. We’ve
also been working recently on moving off the leg, and he has
impressed us with how quickly he has begun to understand
and gotten quite willing to move off leg pressure. He can
independently move the shoulders, hind quarters, or throw it
all together for a sidepass.
Overall Beau is a really great horse, that would excel with a
confident intermediate + rider. We think he would do well as a
youth horse, and could potentially even be a great lesson
horse in a consistent program. Whether you’re looking for
your next trail horse, or a partner in the ring Beau is ready for
your consideration.
He is currently UTD on all shots, coggins, etc. Can be turned
out in a mixed herd.
Located in Royersford, PA we are convenient to popular
shipping routes along the east coast.
