Meet Merlin, a 13-year-old, 15.2 hand grade Missouri Fox Trotter gelding who is as flashy and gorgeous as he is solid and dependable. This boy isn’t just about looks—he’s a pleasure to handle on the ground and an absolute blast to ride.
Merlin is much more than a seasoned trail partner. With field trial experience under his belt, he’s proven to be versatile and adaptable in a variety of situations. He’s very naturally gaited with a super smooth ride, and he adjusts to his rider with ease. Prefer to relax at a slower pace? He’s happy to oblige. Want to move out and cover some ground? He can do that too. He transitions seamlessly from a beautiful gait to a canter and back again, giving you options no matter your riding style.
He has experience in all kinds of terrain, goes exactly where you point him, and is well-acclimated to traffic, dogs, gunfire, farm equipment, livestock, and wildlife—making him steady and reliable wherever you take him. With a true one-hand neck rein, easy stop, and a willing back, Merlin is responsive and a pleasure to ride. He stands patiently to mount, will park out when asked, and also mounts quietly from a block. Whether you ride off alone or head out with a group, he’s just as content in the front, middle, or back.
On the ground, Merlin shines with his manners. He stands tied patiently, loves to be groomed, and tacks up quietly. He’s excellent for the farrier, loads and unloads with ease, and will even back off the trailer if needed. Best of all, Merlin does not have to be ridden consistently—he stays the same with time off and is always ready to go when you are.
If you’re looking for a horse that’s not only flashy and beautifully built but also versatile, seasoned, and a genuine pleasure to be around, Merlin checks all the boxes. For more information contact (573) 270-4490.
