Tearfully, the mare Weihegold OLD under the German dressage rider Isabell Werth ends her career with the third place at the World Cup Finals.

The meanwhile 17-year-old Oldenburg mare Weihegold OLD by Don Schufro x Sandro Hit made her last big appearance under Isabell Werth at the World Cup Finals in Leipzig. The two danced through the arena one last time and were able to secure third place in the music freestyle with 85%.

This is just one among many successes besides team gold and individual silver at the 2016 Olympic Games, three wins in the World Cup Finals and many European Championship medals.

At the farewell in the home atmosphere with more than 7000 spectators and standing ovations Isabell Werth could not hold back her tears. Showing piaffe and passage for the last time and riding the successful mare Weihegold to third place with 85% triggered a lot of emotions in the German dressage rider Isabell Werth.

Isabell’s life would be unimaginable without the mare “The mare has changed my life, she determines my life until today (…) I am very attached to this horse”.

The end of the career of one of Isabell’s favorite horses, which was in top condition at the show, means a farewell from competition, but Weihegold may from now on enjoy life in retirement and become a mother again, after she has already sired successful offspring through embryo transfer.

Thank you Weihegold!
