Fergus is the ultimate trail partner. He has spent the last 3 years mastering trails with all their hazards as well as keeping up on his driving and giving walk/trot lessons to children 4-16yrs.

Ground work/manners:
Fergus ties solid, hobbles, lunges, round pens respectfully with inside turns, baths, body clips including head and ears, no sedation needed for sheath cleaning, stellar manners for trims and shots, has been trained to stand for trims using power tools, trailers/backs out.

Under saddle:
Fergus can ride bareback with a halter, Western, or English. He is beginner, kid, and grandparent safe. He has even been trained to pack a dog on him with the rider. Fergus backs well, side passes both directions, and has the smoothest trot you’ll ever sit. He is a traditional build of a Gypsy Vanner, being short and stout. He is never in a hurry and his preferred gait is walk. Fergus rides alone, alone + dogs, and in whatever size group of horses. He can lead, be in the middle, or ride drag. He is good with other horses and ranks middle of the herd.

Driving:
Fergus is a finished driving horse. He can w/t/c driving on trails and has spent quite a few hours driving on the road as well. In the past he competed in Combined Driving Events.

Exposure:
Fergus has been desensitized to whips, flags, ropes, kids, shooting balloons with a BB gun, driving while pulling a person on roller blades, roping, dragging logs and other objects, barking dogs of all sizes, cows, cars, street signs, and mail boxes.
On the trail Fergus remains calm with bikes, geese, rabbits, coyotes, deer, and ducks. Fergus thoroughly enjoys water and will splash right in with no hesitation.

Fergus enjoys trick training, listening to jazz music, adventuring out on trails, and swimming. He knows how to “smile” on cue and is ready to be someone’s adventure companion. Fergus’s cart and harness will go with him.
