Meet Spirit he is a registered Morgan gelding that both rides & drives! His registered name is Shwandas Spirit Wind we just call him Spirit although he is the opposite of his name. He’s defiantly more WHOA than go. He has a quieter disposition for a Morgan he acts more like a quarter horse sometimes.

He stands at 14.3 1/2 hands tall to be exact so he’s just under 15 hands but he has a very nice stout chunky build and can easily carry a bigger rider or pull a heavier load.

For driving he is what I would consider beginner safe. He’s the horse I would want to teach beginners how to drive. He never misses a beat and doesn’t do a thing wrong. He has a been there done that attitude. He stands excellent for hitching, getting on/off the cart, stop lights, and I’m pretty sure he can read stop signs.

He is great with the traffic as you can see in his video, he’s fine with all sorts of traffic from motorcycles up to semis. And in most of the video of him driving he has a 12yr old driving him. So, if you can’t drive Spirit, you really shouldn’t be driving any horse.

We have used him to go into town to the store and back and he has always been perfect and easy to handle. He’s easy on the lines knows how to turn tight turns side passing in the cart if needed. He knows the words easy, whoa, walk on, trot, and back. He’s so good that when we get back from town what we normally do is just let him stand not tied while we unhitch. Then we take all of his driving gear off and the headstall last. And then without a halter he follows me back to his pasture. He’s just that good that’s how much I trust this guy.

And for riding he’s just as good he stands good for mounting. Loads right in the trailer and backs right out. He’ll ride away from home alone, separate out on the trail, or stay walking if the other horse leaves him. He is a pretty easy going guy has a steady attitude.

He has an easy to post to trot and a smooth easy to sit canter. He goes right in the creeks, rivers, or lakes. He can tackle the steep banks and hills no problems. He will cross bridges and logs. He is NOT easily flustered. As you’ll see in his video he didn’t care a bit about the fire, and he’s quite used to the dog running all around his legs so he’s great with dogs.

He is the farriers favorite he stands that good and so good he gets the hot shoes! He gets along out in the pasture I would say he is the middle of the pecking order. He’s an easy keeper NO maintenance required. NO bad habits. He’s friendly and easy to catch.

He’s pretty easy to get along with and I forget sometimes that he’s only 5 yrs old. He has an old soul. So if he’s this good at 5yrs old he can only get better over time. He comes up to date on vaccines, dewormings, farrier, vet check, and coggins. Just call to set up a time to come see him in person or with any questions.
