Yeguada Cartuja

With more than 500 years of history and state heritage, we are the most important genetic source of pure-bred Spanish Carthusian horses in the world. 

In the grounds of the old pasture "Fuente del Suero", adjacent to the monastery of La Cartuja de Jerez de la Frontera, you can see today, as at the end of the 15th century, the image of the legendary pure-bred Spanish horses of the Carthusian Order. It is the same image, spontaneous and majestic, that has enchanted kings, painters, explorers, breeders and poets for centuries. There, horses of great purity graze and thrive: those that make up the stud farm Yeguada de la Cartuja - Hierro del Bocado.
