Christine Arns-Krogman, owner of the 16-year-old Weihegold, has confirmed that Weihegold might do a few more shows, but is definitely going to retire and return home to become a broodmare.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Weihegold, a<strong> 16-year-old Don Schufro x Sandro Hit<\/strong> <strong>mare<\/strong>, made her <strong>breakthrough<\/strong> in the year <strong>2013<\/strong>. Under the <strong>trainer<\/strong> of <strong>Isabell Werth<\/strong>, she won the <strong>Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals<\/strong>, and claimed the <strong>Louisdor Cup in 2014<\/strong>. After Werth had only <strong>competed<\/strong> <strong>her once<\/strong> at international <strong>Grand Prix<\/strong> level, she <strong>immediately<\/strong> took over riding Weihegold. Little did she know: <strong>this mare would become a dressage superstar.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In <strong>2016<\/strong>, Weihegold not only placed 6th in the CDI-W Grand Prix in Amsterdam, but her rider Werth also secured<strong> sports rights<\/strong> on the mare for the<strong> 2016 and 2020 Olympics<\/strong>.\u00a0 Weihegold <strong>immediately<\/strong> took over the <strong>number one spot in Werth&#8217;s barn<\/strong> from <strong>Don Johnson<\/strong>, with whom Werth won at the 2015 European Dressage Championships in Aachen. At the time of <strong>Weihegold&#8217;s<\/strong> <strong>rise to fame<\/strong>, Werth&#8217;s favourite, <strong>Bella Rose,<\/strong> was recovering from a <strong>devastating injury.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Weihegold and Werth<strong> not only<\/strong> won the <strong>World Cup Finals three years in a row<\/strong> (2017, 2018 and 2019), but won <strong>team gold<\/strong> and <strong>individual silver<\/strong> at the <strong>2016 Olympic Games<\/strong> in Rio, and also took home <strong>double indivudual gold at the 2017 European Dressage Championships<\/strong> in Gothenburg. After<strong> Bella Roses&#8217;<\/strong> <strong>recovery<\/strong> in <strong>2018<\/strong>, Weihegold <strong>lost her place as number one<\/strong> in Werth&#8217;s barn.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Just<strong> six weeks after the Olympic Games in Tokyo<\/strong>, Werth and Weihegold were <strong>reunited again<\/strong>: they wonn <strong>team gold<\/strong>, <strong>Grand Prix special silver<\/strong> and placed <strong>fourth<\/strong> in the Kur at the<strong> European Dressage Championships<\/strong> in Hagen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But after their amazing winning streak together, it&#8217;s time to say goodbye.<\/strong> Weihegold&#8217;s owner, Christine Arns-Krogman, has stated that the mare, who will turn 17 in 2022, is going to <strong>retire<\/strong>.
