Here&#8217;s what riders need to know.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warnings Instead of Immediate Elimination<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the IJRC\u2019s central concerns was the automatic elimination of riders due to minor <strong>bleeding on the horse<\/strong> \u2014 often perceived by the public as a welfare issue. From 2026, a new system of recorded warnings will replace the automatic disqualification for such cases. Only repeated minor incidents within 12 months will lead to a fine and a one-month suspension. Importantly, the IJRC recommends that a qualified <strong>veterinarian assess<\/strong> whether a case is minor to ensure fairness and put horse welfare first.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wins and Ongoing Challenges<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While not all IJRC proposals were adopted, <strong>key progress<\/strong> was made. The FEI rejected the suggestion for additional U25 wildcards, disappointing those hoping for stronger support for young talent. However, the IJRC successfully pushed for capped fees at international events \u2014 helping create more financial transparency and fairness for riders and organizers. A <strong>fairer prize money distribution<\/strong> model was also approved, now awarding the 13th-placed rider 1% of the total purse.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Vote in November<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next major milestone is August 26, the deadline for <strong>national federations to submit feedback<\/strong> on the current draft. The final version will be presented in October, with the official vote taking place during the FEI General Assembly on November 7. For the IJRC, one thing remains clear: <strong>rider voices must not only be heard<\/strong> \u2014 they must shape the future of the sport.<\/p>\n<p><em>Source:<a
