The charitable arm of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) is The Foundation for the Horse, which collects donations\u00a0 for those p<strong>roviding emergency relief and support,<\/strong> including <strong>veterinary organizations<\/strong> and <strong>the horses and animals they care for.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur hearts go out to the animals, their owners, and veterinarians impacted by the devastation in Ukraine,\u201d said Dr. Emma Read, president of The Foundation for the Horse and the AAEP. \u201cWe are working with veterinary colleagues in Europe to identify trusted organizations who are providing <strong>rapid response for equine and animal care\u00a0in the region<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe images and reports from Ukraine as well as the border countries are heart-wrenching,\u201d said the foundation in a statement. \u201cWhile many residents fleeing Ukraine are trying to take their pets and animals with them,<strong> thousands of displaced horses, donkeys, burros and other animals remain behind<\/strong> and, like the people of Ukraine, need your help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foundationforthehorse.org\/impact\/disaster-relief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Foundation\u2019s Disaster Relief page<\/a> to donate and learn more about how they are connecting with veterinary groups and animal charities that are supporting those in need.<\/p>\n<h3>About The Foundation for the Horse<\/h3>\n<p>The Foundation for the Horse is a charitable organization\u202fdedicated to <strong>improving the welfare of the horse through Education, Research, and\u202fhelp for\u202fHorses at Risk. <\/strong>World-renowned equine veterinarians and equine stakeholders govern and steward the foundation.
